Hydrogen has long been considered a critical building block for decarbonizing heavy industry, but production economics have remained a major constraint. Most clean hydrogen solutions today are prohibitively expensive; highly energy-intensive and dependent on large-scale infrastructure buildout.Mantle8 is taking a fundamentally different approach: unlocking naturally occurring hydrogen reservoirs hidden beneath the Earth’s surface. The implications could be enormous: USGS geologists estimate that recoverable volumes could outcompete proven natural gas reserves on energy content – if we can systematically unlock commercial reserves.
