Sandwater expands to Munich, brings in Alexander Domin as partner

Sandwater has been investing across the Northern Europe since 2021.
The move underscores our ambition to strengthen our existing presence in one of Europe’s leading industrial and engineering hubs, tapping into the myriad of local opportunities across deep tech and robotics within Sandwater’s key thematic areas of energy transition, resource efficiency and productivity and resilience.Since our founding in 2021, Sandwater has grown its geographic footprint from its HQ in Oslo to add offices in Stockholm (since 2025) and now Munich.To spearhead this move, we expand our partnership and are excited to bring in a new partner, Alexander Domin to lead the office.Alex joins from Trill Impact, where he serves as Partner and Head of Ventures, leading investments in companies like tado, Open Cosmos, Rail-Flow and Soil Capital.His track record spans 15 years of experience across technology and venture investing including leadership roles at Resysta, where he was Chief Commercial Officer driving green materials innovation, and at WHEB Partners, an early pioneer in sustainability-focused venture capital in Europe. He also co-founded climate tech company Enval, underscoring his deep roots in the sector and entrepreneurial experience. His broader career also includes time as a research scientist and as a consultant at Boston Consulting Group, equipping him with both deep technical expertise and strategic perspectives. Alex holds degrees from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Cambridge, where he was a Gates Scholar.
